Hikes near Málaga: coastal walks and mountain routes

Updated October 30, 2026 · 12 routes

Málaga province has sea level paths, river gorges and sierras above 1,500 m within an hour or two of each other. That makes it a good base for hiking in every season except the hottest weeks.

The routes below are the best documented in our data for Málaga. Heat is the main risk from June to September, so plan early starts and look for shade.

Routes to try

Picked from our route data. Grades and times are our own estimates, not official.

Before you go

  • Sun protection matters nearly all year, even on the coast.
  • River crossings can be impassable after heavy rain.
  • Springs marked on maps are sometimes dry, so carry your own water.
  • Check the official AEMET warnings on the morning of the walk.

Gear we recommend

Málaga's sun is strong almost all year, so protection matters as much as footwear.
